Hammond 1402F(V) Backplane

This backplane is designed to slide into an off-the-shelf chassis made by Hammond Mfg. The internal length of the chassis is 10" so the 9" backplane gives an extra 1" to provide room for controls, connectors, or displays installed in the end cover plates. A full-length 10" backplane is also available. PCB-based cover plates are also available. See photos for comparison.

The chassis is available with or without vents. The ones with vents allow cooling of electronics. Plus, I think they look very nice if you do not mind the extra space for dust or debris to fall inside.

The chassis has multiple PCB slots and two of these backplanes can fit in with 0.71" clearance between them. Modules can also be installed top and bottom on the backplanes to improve density.

We also sell the chassis with some modifications done to make them easier to work with.
